Privacy policy

Who is responsible for this site?
School Entry Calculator is operated by Buy Local Exposure Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in McDowall, Queensland. ABN 88 701 388 945; ACN 701 388 945. We are responsible for the personal information we process through this website. For privacy requests, questions or complaints, email info@schoolentrycalculator.com. See our company and contact information.
Your child’s birthday stays in the calculator
This site is intended for parents and carers. You do not need to enter a child’s name or create an account. Our calculator processes the birthday you enter in your browser; our code does not send it to our server, include it in the page address or store it in our database. We do not send birthdays or calculator results as Analytics events.
A printed or downloaded timeline may include the birthday and selected location. You control that document and who you share it with.
Optional Google Analytics
If you accept Analytics, Google Analytics 4 measures visits and use of our pages, using property tag G-D6447S3VY7. Google receives technical information such as browser and device details, page addresses and connection information. Our page-view configuration removes query strings and fragments from page and referring addresses. We do not enable Google signals or advertising personalisation through this tag.
We rely on your consent to load Analytics. It does not load if you reject it or make no choice. You can withdraw consent using Analytics preferences in the footer. Withdrawal stops future collection on this browser and removes first-party Analytics cookies that our site can access; it does not undo information already processed by Google.
We store your Analytics choice in your browser for up to 180 days. Our Analytics configuration limits its first-party cookies to 180 days. Google Analytics event-level data retention is set to 2 months and user-level data retention to 14 months. The user retention period resets on new activity. These settings do not limit the lifetime of standard aggregated reports. These are separate from the browser cookie duration.
Hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts and delivers this site. Serving and protecting a website involves processing connection information such as IP addresses, request URLs and browser information. This processing is needed to deliver pages and prevent abuse. Cloudflare also loads a site performance measurement script on the live site. The Analytics preference controls Google Analytics, not Cloudflare hosting and performance services. Our school-rule database contains education information, not submitted birthdays. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its processing practices.
Advertising disclosure
The site is configured for Google AdSense publisher pub-7889155438325414. Advertising can help fund the site. AdSense loading is currently paused while advertising consent is configured. Our Analytics choice is not consent to personalised advertising.
When advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where consent is given, personalise advertising. Ads are separate from our educational guidance; appearing on this site does not mean we endorse an advertiser.
Read how Google uses information from partner sites, Google's privacy policy and Google's advertising controls.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide and the contents of your message. We use this information to answer you, investigate reported errors and handle privacy requests or complaints. Our email provider and authorised people helping us handle the request may process it for those purposes. Please do not send a child's full name, exact birthday, school records or identification documents unless we have explained why particular information is necessary.
We retain correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, maintain a record of the response and meet applicable legal or dispute-handling obligations. We review its continued need and delete or de-identify it when it is no longer required. We do not use an enquiry as permission to add you to a marketing list.
Why we process information
Where a data protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on consent for optional Google Analytics. We rely on our legitimate interests in delivering and securing the site, answering enquiries and maintaining accurate guidance for necessary operational processing, subject to your rights. We may also process information to comply with a legal obligation. You are not required to provide a birthday or contact details to browse the site. Without a birthday, we cannot calculate a personalised timeline; without a reply address, we cannot answer an email enquiry.
The calculator does not make an admissions decision about your child or send an application to a school. It provides an estimate for you to review.
Search Console and external sites
Google Search Console reports how the website appears in Google Search. It does not require a visitor tracking script on our calculator. Official sources and other external links lead to websites with their own privacy practices.
International processing and your choices
Google and Cloudflare operate internationally, including in the United States, so their processing may take place outside Australia or your country. Provider processing locations can change; their linked privacy information describes international processing and transfer arrangements. Their privacy policies explain relevant safeguards and rights. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict processing of personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent or complain to your privacy regulator. We cannot retrieve an entered birthday from our database because our calculator does not store it there.
Access, correction, deletion and complaints
Email info@schoolentrycalculator.com to request access, correction or deletion of information we hold about you, raise an objection to processing, or make a complaint. Describe your concern and how we can reply. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm that you are entitled to make the request; do not send identity documents unsolicited.
We will assess the request, investigate any complaint and explain the outcome or next steps. We aim to respond within 30 days, or the applicable legal period if different, and will explain any permitted extension. If we cannot act on a request, we will explain why and what further options are available.
You may contact your local privacy regulator. Australian visitors can use the OAIC privacy complaints process where it has jurisdiction; UK visitors can contact the Information Commissioner's Office; EEA visitors can contact their national data protection authority. You do not have to waive any statutory rights to use this site.
Changes to this notice
We update this page when our processing changes and show the revision date above. If a change requires a new consent choice, we will request it before using that information for the new purpose.
You can also clear cookies and site storage through your browser. Read our cookie notice and terms and calculator disclaimer.
